The 5th Global Foundry Sourcing Conference 2009 was held at Grand Regency Hotel from August 12th to 13th, 2009. The FSC conference was organized by China Foundry Suppliers Union and Suppliers China Information Consultation Co., Ltd, co-sponsored by National Technical Committee on Foundry of Standardization Administration of China.

The FSC conference was organized one year after the global financial crisis in 2008 when the economy recovery was looking forward to. Before this, it has been successfully held for four times. The successful FSC conference has a profound significance to boost confidence in China's international trade industry, to promote the industry production recovery and to guide the industry to overcome the crisis economies. The conference is in a purely market-oriented operation and was held twice a year. It establishes a communicating and trading platform for the global foundry purchasers and China foundry suppliers and helps the purchasers optimize their supply chain, low the purchasing cost, meanwhile, it explores new market channels for foundry suppliers to promote multi-business, and to promote the healthy development of enterprises.

During the two-day schedule, the organizer arranged purchasing presentation for purchasers, production promotion for the suppliers, industry experts for the promotion of new technologies, the global foundry sourcing information conference, face to face negotiation for suppliers and purchasers and a visit to the foundry factory. A series of high efficiency, fast-paced schedule was spoken highly by both the suppliers and purchasers.

Suppliers showed that the purpose of the FSC conference is clear which is of a high level conference in China. First of all, it offers a chance for the global purchasers and suppliers to negotiate face to face. Second, it has a good understanding of the requirement of the purchasers, as well as the audit standards and procedure. Last, it offers a chance to study advanced management experience and new technology.

The conference attracted more than 240 participants. Among them, There are lots of world’s top 500 industries such as ABB, Alstom, GKN from UK, Crane from USA, Hendrickson from USA, Jabil from USA, Bucyrus, Franklin, Schaeffler from Germany and Siemens etc. which had greatly enhanced the influence of the conference. At the same time, there are more than 60 global purchasers from America, Canada, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia, India and Pakistan. The organizer also invited more than 180 suppliers which has their own factories in Chinese mainland. These suppliers all have passed the one or more international quality system certifications. Part of them also showed their products at the conference.

At the conference, Alstom, Crane Co.,Chinese Sourcing, Hendrickson USA, L.L.C., Jabil Circuit( Shanghai) Ltd., GKN Driveline Torque Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd and Australia J Blackwood & Son Limited Shanghai IPO made purchasing presentations on their sourcing requirements, preferred casting materials, preferred manufacturing techniques, and delivery time.

Mr. SUBODH PANCHAL, the past president of The Institute Of Indian foundrymen made a speech named Indian Foundry Industry Current Status. In his speech, it pointed that the global financial crisis has also affected India foundry industries seriously and part of the industries are forced to stop production. He suggested that the Indian foundry industries and Chinese industries work together to resist the crisis.

   Mr. Jonathan Zhang, from Qingte Group which has 50 years history, made a production presentation. The professor Xiong Xingzhi from 4808 Factory made a speech named Two Casting Technology of Broad Application which attracted much attention from the representatives.

On the morning of August 13th, the conference tables were set up for the purchasers and suppliers to have a free talk in the discussion area and to visit the exhibition. Most suppliers have found their potential purchasers and had a pleasant negotiation.
